Employees are the greatest assets of any business. Finances, operational efficacy, organizational culture, brand equity et al are undoubtedly critical factors when it comes to business enterprise. But, one must remember that it is the employee who creates the necessary set-up to make use of the platforms and vistas that the business offers to him. No wonder, modern day human resource managers place great emphasis o taking good care of the employees. But what consists good care?

Good pay, healthy work environment, growth prospects, challenging job profile etc etc. These are clichés harked upon by every second business manager. So what’s new? It is THANK YOU. Yeah, a simple term like thank you can make a critical difference to your organization in ultimately defining whether an employee stays back or joins some other organization. There is a famous English proverb which says, “A stitch in time, saves nine.” Thanking your employee for a commendable job or good dedication is worth an effort. And no it is not obnoxious or odd to do this. A boss after all is a human being and so is the employee and every human being expects appreciation from the other person. thanks conveyed with love and appreciation can not only boost employee morale but also team productivity.

Thanks can be conveyed through gift or my be through a surprise office party. It could also be through gift vouchers and cards to the employee and his family. The basic idea is to ensure that such thanks is conveyed in front of other employees so that a healthy competition can also grow in the organization. However, care should be taken to not overdo things as it might very well rub others the wrong way. It might also make the employee smug and he may also take the boss for a ride.
